The purpose of the Pajatso world championships is to determine the Payazzo champion with the required skill and the finger that can handle the pressure. All persons aged 18 and above, with the exception of RAY employees, are eligible to compete.

The competition will be held in three phases, with the best finishers receiving prizes of an increasing value as the competition progresses. The first phase is a nationwide qualifying round, with three best players continuing to the regional championships. The qualifying rounds will be organized regionally approximately two weeks before the regional championships. Close to a hundred different venues across Finland will be hosting the qualifying rounds. It will also be possible to qualify for the ten regional championships through a Wild card draw.

The competition is divided in two series, a national and an international series. Citizens of foreign countries residing in Finland can participate in the international series either in the qualifying round of their region of residence, or in a separate international qualifying round held in the Grand Casino Helsinki. Holders of dual citizenship may choose which series to participate in. Citizens of foreign countries not residing in Finland may participate in the international qualifying round at Grand Casino Helsinki. The top two participants of the international series will qualify directly to the world championship finals, provided that their scores are of a comparable level to those of the regional championships.

The ten regional champions and two international challengers, as well as the reigning Pajatso world champion, will take part in the world championship finals. The finals will be played in a multi-phase elimination format.

The players will receive increasing publicity as the competition progresses, and especially the finalists will gain much publicity. This of course entails willingness to step into the limelight as well as skill from the players.

All venues containing Pajatso machines will serve as official training venues for the competition. The venues can be found at www.pajatso.fi. The site also contains an introductory Pajatso game, with which it is possible to familiarize oneself with the idea of Pajatso.
